Fernando Orbea Jr is a 3rd generation Jai-alai player. His father Fernando
Sr., originally from Markina Spain, is known as one of the best jai-alai players
in the history of the sport.

Upon his retirement, Orbea Sr. opened an amateur facility in Miami Florida
named “Orbeas Jai-alai”. Orbeas jai-alai was a training ground for many of the
American jai-alai players who played professional in the 70’s and 80’s.  
Fernando Jr. learned to play at his fathers’ fronton at the age of 6.
He turned pro in 1985, playing in Milford Ct. and Dania Fl.

In the winter of 1986, Orbea began playing at the Fort Pierce fronton winning
the most wins & doubles title.  Later that summer, Orbea represented Ft.
Pierce in a National Tournament and also captured the Singles title.
Named as the 1987 Rookie of the year, Orbea has played at Miami jai-alai for
the past 20 years winning the most wins title in 1996. Fernando is a steady
player with tremendous knowledge of the game.
